Frequently asked questions

How do I get the most days off in 2027?

Book vacation days next to public holidays so they join up with weekends. A Thursday or Tuesday holiday is the best case: one day of leave turns it into a four-day weekend. The planner finds every such bridge for your country and picks the best set for the number of days you have.

What are the best days to take off in 2027?

It depends on your country's holidays. In the US, the Fridays before Memorial Day and Labor Day, Friday July 2 and the Friday after Thanksgiving each give four days off for one day of leave. In the UK, Thursday March 25 plus Easter gives five days for one. Pick your country to see the full list.

Which countries does the planner cover?

United States, Canada, United Kingdom (England and Wales), Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands and Japan. It uses national holidays only; states, provinces and regions often add more.

How does the planner choose breaks?

Every break is a run of days off between two workdays that either includes a public holiday or is a full week off. Out of all of them it picks the non-overlapping set that gives the most days off in a row for your vacation days, preferring holiday bridges and summer when two plans tie.

Are weekend holidays moved to a weekday?

Where the law moves them, yes: observed days such as the US Friday before a Saturday July 4, or UK substitute bank holidays, are included. Holidays that fall on a weekend and are not moved don't add a day off.

Can I add the breaks to my calendar?

Yes. “Add to calendar” downloads a calendar file with one all-day event per break, which opens in Google Calendar, Apple Calendar and Outlook. You can also copy the plan or share the page link, which keeps your settings.

Is the PTO planner free?

Yes. It is free with no sign-up and runs in your browser; nothing you enter is uploaded.
